LEISTON U23s head to Whittlesey Athletic on Saturday afternoon in the Thurlow Nunn First Division North buoyed by a great result and performance last weekend.
The young Blues beat unbeaten Haverhill Rovers 1-0 at Victory Road last Saturday. Ethan Oldman’s goal on 29 minutes was the difference between the two sides and Neil Smye’s team will be looking forward to trying to put more points on the board in the next few games.
Whittlesey are currently 18th, and the Blues defeated the Cambridgeshire club back in Suffolk in early August. The U23’s won 4-2, with Warren Buckman, Cameron Rayworth, Mackenzie Travis and Elliott Young all on target. Isaac Jobling and Thomas Boston got the Whittlesey goals.
Whittlesey have nine points from the 16 league games they have played so far, winning two, drawing three and losing 11 matches. Although 18th in the league, they have taken seven points from their last three league games.
They drew 1-1 at Dussindale & Hellesdon last Saturday while they beat Holbeach United (1-0) and Diss Town (5-0) in two home games before that.
Leiston remain 11th, winning eight and losing eight of their 16 games in domestic action. A win could lift the team up into 8th place. Meanwhile, they can look forward also to a Suffolk Senior Cup game with Henley Athletic in February also after beating Old Newton United and Kirkley & Pakefield Reserves in the competition so far this campaign.
Harwich & Parkeston is the Blues next destination next Saturday, before they host Holland and Stanway Pegasus in successive weeks (Saturday 16th and 23rd November) before heading to Wivenhoe Town on the final Saturday of the month.
