BLUES U23’s make the long trip to Cambridgeshire this weekend to face FC Parson Drove in league action.
A 1-0 win against AFC Sudbury Reserves in midweek saw the youngsters move up to 9th place in the week. It’s been a busy start to the season as Leiston U23’s will be playing their 16th game in all competitions this weekend.
The sides have met a few times now at this level. Earlier in the campaign, Charlie Atkin put the Blues ahead in Suffolk but the visitors came from behind to win 2-1 after goals from Corey Kingston and Tyran Stewart, in front of a crowd of 53.
FC Parson Drove are currently 11th in the table, but have played two games less than Leiston and have 19 points from 12 games so far. They have won four of their last five league games, beating Pinchbeck United (1-0, H), Holland (3-1, H), Needham Market U23’s (3-2, H) and Holbeach United (3-0, A). The only game they have lost in them five games was at Stanway Pegasus (3-1).
Compared to this time last season, the Blues U23’s have 11 points more, which is impressive.
Next weekend, the U23’s host Kirkley & Pakefield Reserves in the CNet Training Suffolk Senior Cup 2nd Round. It’s an important competition and support would be appreciated if you aren’t going to Redditch United in the league next weekend.
In the final Saturday of the month (Sat 26th October), the Blues U23’s host Haverhill Rovers in league action, the Suffolk side currently top, winning ten and drawing two of their 12 league games so far.
