LEISTON U23’s, currently top of the Thurlow Nunn First Division North, host FC Parson Drove this weekend looking for a sixth straight league victory.
The Blues youngsters defeated Dussindale & Hellesdon Rovers on Wednesday night 2-1, with Mackenzie Travis’ two goals helping securing the win. The Blues back line played well also, with Cameron Rayworth getting forward at every opportunity.
Leiston U23’s beat FC Parson Drove last year 4-1 on the last day of the campaign to confirm their place at Step 6 for another year. Charlie Atkin’s hat-trick and Ethan Oldman’s goal won the game whilst the reverse game in Cambridgeshire, FC Parson won 4-0.
FC Parson Drove are currently 16th in the league table, winning one and losing three of their league games so far. They also played in the League Challenge Cup but lost 2-0 at FC Peterborough.
Looking ahead, the Blues head to Essex next Saturday to face Stanway Pegasus before they have five games in September.
The U23’s have away fixtures at AFC Sudbury Reserves and FC Peterborough while they host Whitton United and Needham Market Reserves in the league.
In the Suffolk Senior Cup First Round, the U23’s will be at home to Old Newton United on Saturday 21st September.
Meanwhile, the Blues U18’s drew 3-3 at AFC Sudbury U18’s last night in their opening game of the season. Stan Horne netted twice while Keagan Hoque was also on the scoresheet. The U18’s host Ipswich Wanderers in their next game on Tuesday night (7.45pm kick off).
