OVERVIEW
LEISTON head to Bishop’s Stortford this weekend in their penultimate away game of 2024 looking to get back on track after three league defeats - to Kettering, AFC Telford and Stourbridge.
Bishop's Stortford are currently 15th with 24 points from 19 league games. They have lost their last two league games to Kettering Town and Stratford Town, but won three games before that against Barwell, Spalding United and Harborough Town.
The Blues meanwhile have dropped to 13th in recent weeks, with 25 points from 19 games, but the league is still very tight.
PREVIOUS MEETINGS
THE two teams have only met in competitive action twice.
Back in August, and at Leiston's first home game of the campaign it ended 1-1. Bradley Russell opened the scoring for the away side, before Ben Fowkes netted a 90th-minute penalty after Kyran Clements had been fouled. Greg Halford was sent off for Bishop's Stortford as they ended the game with 10 men.
In the two teams' only other competitive match, the Hertfordshire side won 5-1 in the second round of the FA Trophy in 2021. Adam Mills had pulled one back for Leiston after the Blues had gone two goals down early on, and Sam Donkin had saved a penalty, but three second half goals put Stortford into round three.
