THE Blues head to Spalding United in Lincolnshire on Tuesday evening for a first-ever visit to ‘The Tulips’.
Spalding are on a terrific run of four wins from their last five league games, including a 2-0 home win against Banbury United at home at the weekend. They are top of the form guide currently with the Blues in 9th place, although Spalding currently sit 14th overall, with 15 points from 12 games.
Leiston, though, had a good 2-1 win at Redditch United, who were in the play-offs before Saturday’s game. The Blues are now 16th in the table and Tuesday will be their 8th away game of the season in the league and also their fifth straight away game on the bounce.

Spalding United were founded in 1905 and have a ground capacity of 2,700 (300 seated). They were promoted to the Southern League Central Premier after winning the Northern League Premier Division One Midlands league last season. Their record attendance was 6,972 against Peterborough United in an FA Cup Qualifying match in 1952.
They have won the United Counties Premier League on six occasions in their history, the last being in 2013/2014. In FA Competitions, they have reached the First Round Proper of the FA Cup on two occasions, in 1957-1958 and 1964-1965. They reached the FA Trophy Third Round in 1999-2000 and have also reached the Quarter-Finals of the FA Vase in 1989-1990 and 1996-1997.
After this week, Leiston play a fourth game in a row away from home next Tuesday night in the Endeavour Automotive Suffolk Premier Cup 1st Round at Bury Town FC. The tie is just one of two first round games (the other game has already been played with an Ipswich Town XI beating Stowmarket Town on penalties).
The winners will host Lowestoft Town at home in Round 2.
Meanwhile, the U18’s host Framlingham Town U18’s tomorrow night in the Thurlow Nunn Youth Central Division (7.45pm kick off).
