LEISTON entertain AFC Sudbury on Tuesday night in league action in a first local derby of the 2024/2025 campaign for the Blues.
Leiston are 17th in the league standings after the weekend’s results while Sudbury are 8th. The visitors had a good win on the road on Saturday at Spalding United as Joe Neal and a brace from Callum Page saw the ‘Yellows’ win 3-0. Sudbury did, however, lose 1-0 to AFC Dunstable in the Emirates FA Cup to depart the competition earlier in the season.
Leiston beat the West Suffolk side at home last season with goals coming from George Quantrell and Seb Dunbar. In September 2023, both sides drew 1-1 with Ross Crane netting for Leiston.
Sudbury haven’t beaten Leiston at home since November 2004, when they won 2-1, in a season where they went on to lift the title. Tim Sparkes was on target that day for the Blues in front of a crowd of 271. Since then, Sudbury have came to Victory Road just four times in the league, with Leiston winning three games and a match in September 2011 ending 1-1.
