LEISTON head into their third game of the season this weekend, as they face yet another new club in the form of Harborough Town.
A good display against Bishop’s Stortford on Tuesday night put a first point on the board for Leiston. Ben Fowkes’ goal, a 92nd-minute penalty after Kyran Clements was fouled, helped the Blues gain a deserved draw after Bradley Russell’s opening goal on 57 minutes had put the Essex side in front.
The side looked confident and played some good football in front of a crowd of 233. The new signings all played their part as well as performers from the past seasons.
The draw lifted the Blues off the bottom of the table and up to 18th place. This weekend's visitors Harborough Town have lost one and drawn one, like Leiston. They lost to Stamford 1-0 on the opening day whilst they drew 1-1 at Alvechurch on Tuesday night.
Blues captain Seb Dunbar is unlikely to feature as he recovers from a calf strain. Dunbar is currently on 399 appearances for the club.
Harborough Town is in Leicestershire, based in Market Harborough, and play at the Harborough Town Community Football Ground. They are nicknamed the Bees and were founded in 1975. They were promoted last season via the play-offs in the Midlands Division One League, having finished third in their regulation season. They have played in the United Counties League, Northamptonshire Combination League and Leicester and District League since they started up.
