Leiston lost their first league game in ten matches last night as they were beaten 3-1 by a strong Redditch United outfit in Worcestershire.
The Blues were made to make an enforced changed as Rossi Jarvis was injured so his brother Ryan came into the sixteen. Adam Mills and Wyatt Hill were available again, but only selected to be on the bench.
Redditch started the better of the two sides on the 3G surface and took the lead after just five minutes. Riley O’Sullivan got forward for the visitors and cut inside from the right to unleash a shot that Sam Donkin saved but he couldn’t hold on to the ball and Bernard Mensah Junior capitalised on the loose ball to fire past the keeper. Ben Fowkes got forward and his strike was blocked by Ryan Wollacott in the 8th minute while Joe Marsden had an attempt blocked from the corner. O’Sullivan once again got in on the action at the other end a minute later but his effort was saved by Donkin. The next ten minutes were then mainly played in the middle of the park with both defences on top and not letting the forward players get into attacking areas. On 22 minutes, Joe Marsden released Ben Fowkes but Adam Harrison saved his shot at the second attempt. Bernard Mensah Junior went down after 27 minutes with a knock and received treatment for a few minutes. In the 34th minutes
