OVERVIEW
THE Blues host Lowestoft Town in the Endeavour Automotive Suffolk FA Premier Cup on Tuesday evening in the last of matches in round two of this year’s competition.
Ben Fowkes’ 88th-minute winner helped Leiston to beat Bury Town at the back end of October as Leiston progressed, along with an Ipswich Town XI, in just the two round one ties.
Last time out, Leiston played well at Southern League Premier Central leaders Kettering Town on Saturday, but ultimately lost 2-1 after Kettering got a late winner. George Quantrell netted Leiston's goal, his 10th of the campaign.
CURRENT FORM
LEISTON slipped to tenth in the Southern League Premier Central division table after Saturday’s results while Lowestoft’s home match with Stamford was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch. The Trawlerboys haven’t played a competitive game since Saturday 9th November and have dropped to 18th, with 19 points collected from 15 games. The sides have yet to meet in the league, with the Blues hosting Lowestoft on Boxing Day (1pm kick off) and heading to Crown Meadow on Easter Monday.
SUFFOLK PREMIER CUP WINS
LOWESTOFT Town have won the Suffolk Premier Cup 13 times, while Leiston won the competition in 2018 and 2019, beating Bury Town (3-0) and Felixstowe & Walton United (3-2).
