LEISTON head to Essex tonight to face Hornchurch in their first ever FA Cup replay at this stage of the competition.
Kyran Clements’ late header in the fifth minute of stoppage time at the weekend at Victory Road meant the tie would need this replay. The winners of tonight’s tie will host National League Dagenham & Redbridge in the 4th Round Qualifying on Saturday 12th October.
The draw with Hornchurch at the weekend also took the Blues unbeaten home run in all competitions to seven matches.
Wyatt Hill will miss tonight’s game through suspension after the defender was sent off last Tuesday night at Bedford Town.
This is the 8th time the Blues have reached this stage of the FA Cup since coming back into the competition in 2004 after a 46-year absence, and as previously mentioned, the first time Leiston have replayed in this round.
Leiston did beat Hornchurch in the FA Trophy last season, winning on penalties 9-8 after the game finished level after normal time.
The sides have also met in the Isthmian Premier Division in the 2014/2015 season.
The Blues won 4-0 in August while in February 2015, the Essex side won 4-2. The Blues came 9th that season while Hornchurch finished in 23rd place, coming second from bottom and being relegated.
If the tie is still level after 90 minutes, extra time will take place before a penalty shoot out will decide things, if needed.
The winning team will receive £5,625 while the losing side will bag £1,875.
