Under-18 coach reflects on his time at Victory Road

'There have been so many highlights, most noticeably the ‘invincible season’ last campaign.'
- Sam Burman

LEISTON under-18 coach, Sam Burman, is leaving the club.

After six seasons at Victory Road Sam, who has enjoyed many wonderful times with Blues youngsters and coached many players, will be taking a break from the game. His final game in the dug-out will be next Tuesday's home clash with Whitton United (22nd).

“This has been a difficult decision for me to take,” Sam said.

“There have been so many highlights, most noticeably the ‘invincible season’ last campaign. However, I’m most proud of supporting the Club to produce players to represent our first team, their county and clubs further up the pyramid.

“I want to thank all the people at Leiston who have helped me, from Andy Crisp, Peter Mayhew, Dave Williams to all the volunteers and fellow coaches who make Leiston Football Club what it is.

“And of course to the players I have coached. Thanks for always giving me 100% and supporting my decisions throughout the years.

“I will continue to be a keen observer of the Club’s fortunes moving forward.”

Director of football at Leiston, Dave Williams said: “Sam took a squad from U13s with Owen Hammond through to two seasons of U18 football.

“This group of players have regularly featured in first-team squads over the last couple of seasons and huge thanks go to Sam for his time and dedication to helping their development.

“We hope to see him soon and he will always be welcome at Leiston Football Club.”
