‘WE hope there will be goals… at the right end of course!’
So says Blues head coach Lee Norfolk ahead of Bedford Town’s trip to the Watson & Hillhouse Stadium this Saturday.
The two teams meet at Victory Road in a crucial Southern League Premier Central match (3pm ko) for both sides, with Bedford currently second in the table, level on points with Halesowen, while Leiston sit four points outside the last play-off place. Neither side will want to lose this one.
Speaking ahead of the game, Norfolk said: “We are really looking forward to the game with Bedford as we ran them close in that seven-goal thriller at their place earlier in the season.
“It will be two teams pushing for a win, there is no doubt about that. They score a lot but also concede. So, we hope there will be goals, at the right end of course.”
While Bedford are sitting on 66 points in second place and looking good for a play-off spot at the least, Leiston are four points off the three teams in fifth, sixth and seventh.
The Blues picked up a decent point at Alvechurch last weekend but have been left to rue dropping points in recent games before that to Barwell (3-4) and Biggleswade (0-0), both teams who were in the bottom five at the time.
All the top eight sides have six matches left.
