Leiston striker Loza... Play-offs 'more than doable'

'How we’ve been playing of late we’ve established our identity now.'
- Jamar Loza

BLUES striker Jamar Loza says he and his team-mates have established their identity now this season as the Blues push for a play-off spot.

Loza, 30, is Leiston’s 19-goal leading scorer. And after the Victory Road team began the season slowly, they are now well into their stride sitting in eighth place, as they head to improving Bromsgrove Sporting at the weekend in search of more league points.

In what is a tight Southern League Premier Central division, Loza says team spirit at Leiston is good.

“Confidence is really high at the minute, for me and the team,” he said.

“I’m scoring a lot, but obviously keen to score more. The team are playing well, so it goes good together me scoring goals and the team winning. It’s no good me scoring and the team not winning.

“The second half of the season we must be aiming for the play-offs. Obviously, it’s tight and we are not far from looking down either. But we must be aiming up, we’re four points off the play-offs, which at this stage is more than doable to get ourselves in them.”

Leiston missed out on a chance to gain back-to-back home victories after their win over Stratford 10 days ago, when Saturday’s clash with St Ives Town was called off because of a frozen Victory Road pitch.

Now looking ahead, Loza knows Bromsgrove will offer a stiff test.

“How we’ve been playing of late we’ve established our identity now and the team is playing well together,” he added.

“Bromsgrove have been doing well of late, but it’s all about us, impose our style and I’m sure we’ll do well.”
