THE Blues have swooped to sign former Ipswich Town and Chesterfield attacker, Harley Curtis.
A player who signed a pro contract for the Portman Road club in 2021 and played under former Ipswich boss Paul Cook at the Spireites, will be an exciting addition to the Leiston squad.
“Harley is a player we have been interested in for a few years,” director of football at Leiston, Dave Williams said.
“We almost signed him two years ago when he left Ipswich Town, and we know his pedigree and are delighted we’ve got him on board.
“He’s a young man who wants to get back playing and enjoying his football again and we’re sure he will be able to do that with Leiston.”
Curtis, 21, signed that one-year professional contract with Ipswich in June 2021 after a prominent role in the Blues U-18s’ side run to the semi-finals of the FA Youth Cup in 2020/21. He scored the winner against Fulham in the third round ahead of Town bowing out to Liverpool in the semi-final.
Although he did not make a senior appearance at Portman Road, he was used in Kieron Dyer’s under-21s and was loaned out to Braintree Town in March 2023.
Curtis then joined up with former Ipswich boss Cook at Chesterfield last summer making six appearances as the Spireites won the National League, before joining King’s Lynn on loan for the second half of last season.
He joined Needham Market at the start of this campaign, but left the Marketmen last week, with the Blues snapping him up.
Everyone at Leiston welcomes Harley and hope he enjoys a successful time with us at Victory Road.
