The Blues can confirm the signing of Robert Eagle. The experienced left footed midfielder has agreed a two year deal as he finally signs for his home town club. Robert can list Norwich City, Grimsby Town and Inverness Caledonian Thistle as former clubs as well as local Non League sides AFC Sudbury and Lowestoft Town as he looks to add that extra bit of experience to push the Blues to the next level. Robert made his Norwich City first team debut at 19 years old but he was released in 2009 and then moved to Scotland to play for Inverness Caledonian Thistle before playing 50 times for Grimsby Town up until 2012. Most recently Robert was with AFC Sudbury after leaving Lowestoft Town at the end of the 2015/16 season.
Manager Glenn Driver said on his latest signing;
"Really pleased to welcome Robert to our club. Rob is a very good all round player who will fit into our style of play and can cover a number of positions. He will bring balance to the squad and his experience will definitely help the younger players. He scores goals, sees a pass and is a good athlete who gets around the pitch well. I'm looking forward to seeing him in a Leiston shirt."
New signing Robert had the following to say;
"I'm really happy to sign and its almost like I have come 'home'! I'm looking forward to playing for my home town and hopefully I can come in and give that little extra push to get the club to the next stage."
A warm welcome to Robert from everyone at Victory Road and we hope you have a successful stay.
