Eddie knows Blues have it all to play for

Leiston defender says play-offs and Premier Cup final make it an exciting finale

'On a personal level, I want to continue to play regularly and play as many games as possible.'
- Eddie Jackson

EDDIE Jackson says the Blues season is very much alive and thinks that Leiston have a chance to reach the play-offs as they reach the last month of the campaign.

With the Suffolk Premier Cup also up for grabs, April is an exciting month for Leiston and their fans. Something Eddie acknowledges.

“We're still in that play-off picture even though Saturday’s 1-1 draw with Alvechurch was a tough result to take," Jackson said, reflecting on the clash in Worcestershire.

“It wasn’t a bad result, but when you dominate the first half and create so many chances, it would have been nice to go in another goal up at least at the break.”

COACH TRAVEL TO PREMIER CUP FINAL

Jackson, a former Norwich City academy player, who first joined the club in 2023, has now made 80 appearances in all competitions for the Blues and netted twice.

He is looking forward to taking part in that Premier Cup final against Felixstowe & Walton United FC, at Bloomfields, the home of Needham Market FC.

“As a team, we would love to win the Suffolk Premier Cup this season,” Jackson added.

“We will approach the final in the same way we always do for a league game. Go out and get the win. We know it won’t be easy against a Felixstowe side who have been in the top three of the Isthmian Division North for most of the season. We go into the game ready to fight for everything, leaving everything on the pitch.

“On a personal level, I want to continue to play regularly and play as many games as possible. I enjoyed helping keep six successive clean sheets this season, keeping the goals out is what I’m paid to do."

Jackson will be in the squad this weekend as he looks forward to playing Bedford Town in what is a huge Southern League game for both sides.

Home comforts are very much the key for the Blues right now, as they will play four of their last six league games at home, and have to go out of Suffolk just once in the final month of the campaign when they head to Stourbridge.
