LEISTON first-team head coach, Lee Norfolk, has spoke of his delight at the Blues overcoming Lowestoft Town in the Suffolk Premier Cup on Tuesday night, and how the team can now look forward to a mouth-watering home tie with an Ipswich Town XI.
Goals from Ben Fowkes and George Quantrell saw the Blues home at the Watson & Hillhouse Stadium. Both goals top and tailed a strike from the Trawlerboys' Harry Barbrook with all three goals coming in a four-minute spell in the second half as the Blues ran out 2-1 winners.
Speaking to the Suffolk FA website, Norfolk said: "We spoke at half-time about how we had good entries in the final third, but we didn't have any real final thrust.
"We didn't have anybody on the end of crosses and we didn't really work the 'keeper. We spoke about how that needed to improve. They always carried a threat on the transition or turnover, so we were wary of that and we knew there were goals in the game.
"We got a good goal from Ben Fowkes and when we went to sleep a little bit and they have scored a good goal. That was disappointing, especially within a couple of minutes of our goal.
"But then to bounce back again was a positive and we don't score many from set-pieces, so it was nice to get one that way."
Norfolk made four appearances for Ipswich Town during his spell there in the '90s, and he is looking forward to the challenge the Portman Road players will present in the quarter-finals.
"It is going to be a good game of football and hopefully there will be a few through the gate at our place," he said. "I will look forward to that one."
