Leiston defeat Ipswich youngsters as they come back from being a goal down at the break

Leiston came from a goal down to defeat Ipswich Town Under 21's in a pre-season friendly at Victory Road. Leiston hit the bar through Ben Fowkes in the first half but Ipswich took the lead on 42 minutes after a strike from the away in the Blues area from Sid Eldred.

In the second half, Leiston play some excellent football, and George Quantrell levelled after a great run into the area and finish on 56 minutes. In the 64th minute, Under 23's captain Ethan Oldman finished well past the Ipswich keeper while on 71 minutes, a great move that started from the back, ended with Ben Fowkes firing home from 25 yards. Some very good performances from youngsters Ben Batho and Ethan Oldman, who played ninety minutes, while Mitchell Jackson, Ollie Griggs, Cameron Rayworth and Marcus Mehew (goalkeeper) came on as subs to impress.

Blues line up: Johnson (sub Mehew 85 mins), Batho, Saunders (sub Rayworth 74 mins), Oldman, Eddie Jackson, Hill (sub Mitchell Jackson 61 mins), Ryan Jarvis (sub Manly 61 mins), Fatadjo, Quantrell, Fowkes, Loza (sub Griggs 83 mins). Sub not used: Rossi Jarvis.

The Blues next game is in Norfolk next Tuesday night as Leiston visit Aldiss Park to play Dereham Town. (7.45pm kick off).
