Blues midfielder back from injury and looking forward to the rest of the season

'As for the rest of the season I want to see us push for promotion.,
- Albie Armin

LEISTON midfielder Albie Armin says he wants to see his team push for promotion, as the Blues head to Southern Central Premier division league leaders Kettering this weekend.

Armin, 20, joined Leiston in September 2023 having made his Ipswich Town debut against West Ham U21s in the Papa Johns Trophy in 2021. He played twice more for Town.

However, this season he has been set-back by injury at Leiston that has limited his playing time, although he feels he is on his way back now – and indeed scored in the Blues impressive 3-1 victory at St Ives Town at the weekend.

“It was annoying picking up an injury so early into the season, but that’s how football goes,” Armin said. “So, I feel good coming back, especially as the lads have been picking up some good points.

“Yes, it was nice getting a goal on Saturday and will help me on that path to getting 100% back. Hopefully, it can kick-start a slow season individually so far for me and get me on track from where I left off at the end of last season.”

BLUES DUO INJURY LATEST

Leiston have been in terrific form of late, unbeaten in seven league games, eight in all competitions. Albin’s return to the squad couldn’t come at a better time as the Victory Road side moved into their highest position in the table so far this season – eighth.

“The team has been excellent in recent months,” Albin added. “We have a strong defensive foundation, conceding very few in recent weeks has allowed our talented strikers to play with a lot less fear and stress.”

And he admits he and the Blues are looking forward to the Kettering clash.

“We should be looking forward to the Kettering game, as we want to be challenging for promotion and so far, they look the front runners,” Albin said. “Getting a good result against them will do no harm in our camp’s confidence.

“As for the rest of the season I want to see us push for promotion. With the team we have it would be wasted not to give it a good go.”
