It is getting on for 22 years since I last watched any U13 game when I managed an U13s at the club. It was therefore heartening to see the level of performance produced by both sides but in particular the Leiston team, who in the first half played especially well and probably deserved to be more than two goals ahead. My view of the second half was that Stowmarket just shaded it in terms of possession but came up against a resolute defence determined to keep a clean sheet. The late Leiston strike put the gloss on an accomplished team performance. The other aspect I found so refreshing was the positive attitude of all the players, both benches and the many parents who braved the cold to support their child. I don't think I heard any criticism, just encouragement throughout. Long may it be so.
Leiston's goalscorers were: Connor Green, Oscar Girling and Ollie Griggs.
