Blues well beaten on a disappointing afternoon

Leiston went down 5-0 this afternoon to Worcestershire based Redditch United as Redditch renewed their play-off hopes while the Blues stay in 12th place.

First half goals from Reece Flanagan (27th min pen) and Alex Cameron (45+1 mins) put the hosts in a commanding lead at the break.

Cameron effectively finished off the contest in the 49th minute before Bradley Burton shot home on 64 minutes to make it four. Danny King netted number five with half the second period remaining but the Blues kept out the home side in the final stage of the game. Late on, Ross Crane hit the bar with a free kick while George Quantrell went close in stoppage time.

Blues side: Donkin, Batho, Dunbar, Rossi Jarvis, Quantrell, Ryan Jarvis (Dronfield 68 mins), Crane, Armin (Saunders 64 mins), Boatswain, Manly (Marsden 64 mins), Loza. Sub not used: Casement.

Today’s attendance was 514. Thanks to the Blues fans who made the trip today. We thank Redditch United for their hospitality and warm welcome today and wish them well in their bid for the play-offs.
